Billykirk Leather

As I watched this interview with Billykirk on etsy today I could actually smell the leather they were working with and imagine what it would be like to watch them work together in their shop all day. The moments between dialogue where the camera focuses on the fellows working says volumes, a feeling their website couldn’t begin to convey. It’s worth watching for the general beauty of the camera work, the process behind their products and for the wonderful interactions between the two men.

MARS!

Here is a sweet, wonderful, depressing little short about space-fairing entities arriving on Mars, and what happens when they start to mine the planet’s resources.

Natural Gas

Visualizing the warmth provided by natural gas within a home as knitted yarn…. an absolutely beautiful idea. And perfectly executed to boot!

And here is the “making-of” video. Hint: they filmed everything in reverse and were unraveling the knitted pieces. Double genius…

The Intelligence of Crows

I’ve read The Mind of the Raven by Bernd Heinrich a few times. Each time I’m surprised at how smart ravens are. They are smart as far as their life in the wild demands. Crows, however, are people-smart. They live where we live off of what we do/produce/throw away. They are found everywhere in the world expect the arctic and are wildly successful. Here’s a video that shows just how smart these birds are and why it’s important to look at them without thinking about getting rid of them.
